Riya Chakraborty was arrested Tuesday afternoon in connection with the Sushant case. His attorneys didn’t even get bail that day. Later on Thursday, the actress’s request for bail was again rejected by a special court in Mumbai.
He was also in preventive detention for 14 days. The verdict was announced on Friday (September 11).
Meanwhile, the actress, who is famous for the movie ‘Jalebi’, claimed her innocence in the bail request. She said she was forced to plead guilty. The accusations against her are false. Apart from Riya, her brother Sauvik Chakraborty’s request for bail was also heard on the same day. Sauvik was arrested on September 4 in this case.
According to Rhea and Sauvik’s request for bail, the Narcotics Control Office said that although a small amount of drugs was recovered, it was worth around 1.75 lakh rupees. Another defendant in the case, Dipesh Sawant, also said in his statement that Sushant’s cook was collecting drugs under Sushant and Riya’s instructions. Also, Riya and Sauvik used to arrange and pay for the medications for Sushant.
Meanwhile, on the third day of interrogation by the NCB, Riya admitted that she had used not only cannabis but also strong drugs. Which was provided to her by her brother Sauvik.
Riya Chakraborty was arrested under Sections 6 (c), 20 (b), 26 (a), 26 and 29 of the NDPS Act of India. The most notable of the sections that the NCB has filed against Rear under the NDPS Act is Section 27 (a), a criminal conspiracy charge, which, if proven, would carry a minimum sentence of 10 years.
