Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp has been named FIFA Men’s Team of the Year for the second time in a row. He lost to Hans Flick of Bayern Munich and Marcelo Bielsa of Leeds United in the race for The Best.
The winners were announced at the virtual ceremony ‘The Best FIFA Football Awards’ on Thursday at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.
The club, which has won the title for the first time in 30 years, has received the highest number of votes from soccer fans, journalists, team coaches and captains.
Klopp has won three titles with Liverpool this season. With the club’s record of 99 points, Liverpool have won their first Premier League title in 30 years, leading the club to the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.
Meanwhile, Sarina Wigman won the women’s soccer coach of the year award on Thursday night. This time, the coach is able to lead the Netherlands to the 2022 European Championship by winning all 10 matches in the qualifying round.
