The Dubai police detained 104 Bangladeshis at the airport and sent them back because they did not have permits. They were detained at the airport for 74 hours. They were not given food at that time. They went to Dubai buying a ticket for the airline Fly Dubai. They had to return home on Sunday afternoon after being misled by the company’s designated travel agent. So this company has to pay compensation.

Ali Hossain, an expat, told Jugantar that he bought Fly Dubai Airlines tickets at a higher price. The price of his Feni ‘Exchange Travels’ ticket remained at Tk 95,000. Apart from this, the ‘exchange’ carries another two lakhs in the name of permission to enter the country. Although there was a flight on October 6, it left Dhaka one day late on October 9.

“I bought a Fly Dubai ticket for several more times,” he said. The rest of the people with me also bought tickets with 1 lakh 10 thousand. All of them received false permits to enter the country.

Some others who returned after being misled said that 55 people landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka and the remaining 49 at Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport. They were detained by the Dubai immigration police for two days. They did not give them food there. They filed a written complaint against Fly Dubai with the Dhaka airport authorities on Sunday evening.

The complaint read: “Many went back to work due to long-term unemployment and bought bank loans, interest-bearing loans, gold jewelry and tickets for Fly Dubai. But due to the deception of the company’s designated travel agent, they had to return home helpless.

Fly Dubai is known to have brought 104 Bangladeshis to Dubai on boarding passes without complying with the immigration policy of the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Magistrate Sheikh Hafizur Rahman forced Fly Dubai to pay compensation for such negligence. The company will have to pay an additional 3,500 rupees for all additional costs, including the refund of the tickets. Compensation must be paid before October 18.
