Among the government’s main megaprojects, the railway metro is being built in six stages in the capital. This includes 8,569 km of flyovers and 61,172 km of metro. Construction of the MRT-6 infrastructure is currently underway in the first phase of the six-phase project entitled ‘Timely Action Plan-2030’. The time has been set for 2024 to complete the work of the first phase again. The second phase of MRT-1 is scheduled for completion in 2026.
Various initiatives have been taken to reduce traffic congestion in Dhaka. Metrorails, flyovers, flyovers and highways are under construction. The new addition will be the metro. Prep work proceeds quickly before it is built. In July, the initial design and feasibility study progress was 30 percent.
Bangladesh’s first metro will be built under the MRT-1 project. In two phases, 19.82 km of metro will be built from the airport to Kamalapur and 11,289 km of flyover from Natun Bazar to Pitalganj in Rupganj. Arrangements are being made to change trains at the new market station for passengers on this route. So that Kamalapur route passengers can easily go to Purbachal route and Purbachal route passengers can easily go to Kamalapur route. The total cost of the project has been estimated at Tk 52,562 crore.
Work on the MRT-6 project is already underway. Officials from the Megha Project Metro Rail say the first phase of the Metro Rail MRT-6 will launch from Uttara to Agargaon before the 50th anniversary of independence. Work on this project progresses rapidly in dealing with Corona. The infrastructure of the flying railway from Diabari in Uttara to Motijheel is visible. A viaduct has been installed on the quay to Agargaon. Construction work on the roof of the station is currently underway. Out of a total of 659 piers from Diabari to Motijheel, 598 have already been built.
As a second step, ground tests and other work on MRT 1 have been carried out. The second phase of MRT-1 is scheduled to be completed in 2026. In other words, Metrorail will be launched in the country in the first phase MRT-6. That is on the go. Then MRT-1, which is completely underground.
Regarding these issues, the Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, Obaidul Quader, said: “The work of the Metro Rail MRT-6 project is 52 percent complete. I hope to complete the work on other steps by 2030. The work is progressing fast. Although the work has been interrupted by the crown bud, it is now being compensated.
