In addition to writing, Rabia Khatun has done teaching and journalism. In his fifties, a monthly magazine called ‘Angana’ was published under his own direction.
In 1993, Rabia Khatun received the Ekushey Padak. In 1999, he received the Ananya Sahitya Puraskar. In addition, he has won Swadhinata Puraskar, Bangla Academy, Bacchus (Bangladesh Association of Film Journalists) Puraskar, Bangladesh Lekhika Sangha Puraskar, and numerous honors.
Rabeyo Khatun was born on December 26, 1935 at his uncle’s home in Bikrampur, Dhaka. Their ancestral home is in Sholghar village in Srinagar upazila of Munshiganj district. Father Maulvi Mohammad Mulluk Chand and mother Hamida Khatun. She passed the Armanitola School (now secondary) entrance exam in 1947. As the daughter of a conservative Muslim family, her formal education came to a halt after she crossed the school boundaries.
Rabia Khatun married ATM Fazlul Haque, editor and film director, on July 23, 1952. Their eldest son, Faridur Reza Sagar, is a prominent children’s writer and television personality and CEO of Impress Telefilm Limited and Channel I. youngest son, Farhadur Reza Prabal, was once a popular television host and architect and currently lives in Australia. The eldest daughter, Keka Ferdousi, is an outstanding cook. Eldest son-in-law Mukit Majumder Babu is a television presenter, president of Nature and Life Foundation, and director of Channel I and Impress Group. Youngest son-in-law Zahir Uddin Mahmud Mamun is a prominent industrialist, director of Channel I and Impress Group. The eldest daughter-in-law, Kona Reza, is a prominent businesswoman and owner of Pansupari. Youngest daughter Farhana Kakli is a homemaker.
