In addition to the above rate, public transport has begun to operate throughout the country as of September 1 based on the number of seats. However, there are reports of non-compliance with hygiene regulations in public transport. There is no good use of transport drivers and staff with passengers, rates are arbitrarily demanded. For these reasons, the number of passengers does not increase due to lack of confidence. The transport continues leaving empty seats. On Wednesday (September 2) morning, such an image was seen walking through different areas of the city.

Visiting the Basabo Bus Bay area of the city in the morning, it was seen that there is a sufficient crowd of people going to the office. The number of buses is also quite high. But not a single person was seen getting on the bus. They say that public transportation in Corona could not guarantee your safe trip. Nowhere is the use of hand sanitizer or hygiene observed. Also, carrying passengers in all seats does not guarantee social distance. You always have to argue with the helpers about the rent.

Aslam Uddin, a resident of the Basabo Buddhist temple area, said: “I am a little older. I will retire from work next year. The way passengers are transported, I think, is risky. So I travel by rickshaw or GNC.

Golam Kibria, a driver for Midway Transport, said the number of buses has increased more than before. The government has also increased the capacity to transport passengers by bus. But the number of passengers has not increased. Those who used to ride the bus still do. That is why not all seats are filled. On the contrary, we are losing money due to the number of passengers.

It has been seen that the number of rickshaws, CNG and motorcycles is higher in the Bangla Motor area. Most buses on the road have empty seats. Passengers are also scattered throughout the bus.

Talking to Mamun, a passenger carrying roots from Mirpur. He complained that the use of transport workers was not good. The driver had a dispute with at least 15 passengers for the Mirpur No. 10 fare to come here. They are demanding more than the rent set by the government. Many are paying the required rent to avoid controversy.

Another passenger, Ashraf Uddin, said that people could not trust the bus. They are not even close to the rules that were supposed to be followed during the coronation period. So ordinary people walk to the office if it is a short distance. Or traveling by GNC, rickshaw or motorcycle. People don’t get on the bus unless they have to.

Khandaker Enayet Ullah, Secretary General of the Dhaka Road Transport Owners Association, told the Bengali Tribune: “We have written to all owners and companies to ensure that no one charges more than the previous rate set by the government.” In all transport so that hygiene is observed. We ask law enforcement agencies to take action against any transport that violates them. And the complaint for us is that we will actually take action.

When asked, BRTA Deputy Director (Compliance) Mohammad Abdur Razzak told the Bangla Tribune that every day between 10 and 12 of our mobile courts conduct regular raids in several major areas, including Dhaka and Chittagong. In addition to the jail fines, they are also seizing vehicle documents, he said.
