Maritime Transport Minister of State Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said work on the Padma bridge is underway amid excess currents in the Padma River. The span will not be installed on the Padma Bridge due to the current. The ferries get stuck. It is feared that if the ferry service is resumed at night, there is a risk of a major accident. Therefore, the government does not want the activities of the Padma Bridge to be interrupted or damaged by whims. That is why the ferry service has been suspended since night to ensure safety and avoid accidents on the Padma bridge.

He said this in response to several questions from journalists after paying tribute at the tomb of the nation’s father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Tungipara on Saturday noon.

Previously, he paid tribute to the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by laying a wreath on his grave. Later, he participated in the recitation of Fateha and a special munajat in search of the blessings of the souls of the martyred members of Bangabandhu and their family.

Among others, the President of the Port of Mongla, Rear Admiral M Shahjahan, the President of BIWTC, Khwaja Mia, the President of BIWTA, Commodore Golam Sadeq, and the Director General of the Shipping Department, Commodore Abu Zafar Md. Jalaluddin were Present. Later, the minister of state visited the Patgati launch ghat in memory of Bangabandhu.
