The eighth round of talks between the commanders of the military corps on the ongoing tensions and stalemate in East Ladakh on the border with Indochina has begun. The dialogue began at 9:30 am today (Friday). The eighth meeting was held at Chusule in Ladakh.

The Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), General Bipin Rawat, has said that the largest confrontation between Indian and Chinese forces is likely to take place on the Line of Control (LoC) in East Ladakh. At the same time, he argued that China’s handshake with Pakistan could endanger regional stability. He added that the Chinese People’s Liberation Army was suffering “unexpected results” in Ladakh.

According to the Defense Ministry, the demand was made at the meeting so that the Indian army could patrol the Finger Area 5-6 on the north shore of Pangong Lake as before. They are also demanding the withdrawal of Chinese troops from a new conflict zone, south of Lake Pangong.

General Rawat made it clear that the problem in East Ladakh was due to the aggressive behavior of the Chinese armed forces. They may be more reckless in the future. “Security concerns can lead to border clashes,” he said at a virtual meeting organized by the National Defense Academy. “We will not tolerate any attempts to replace LAC.”

In fact, China strategically occupied the peaks of Lake Pangong in India. The Chinese Army did not allow the Indian Army to patrol outside the Finger 4 area. But India has strongly manifested its presence in the region. In the last dialogue held on October 12, China offered to partially withdraw its troops from the area, but India refused.

The armies of the two countries have clashed in eastern Ladakh since the first week of May. Meanwhile, the ongoing dispute between the two countries has been going on for seven months. The seventh round of talks took place during that time, but despite a dialogue at the diplomatic and military level, a solution has yet to be found.
