One of the founders of the famous Notre Dame College in the capital and the true friend of Bangladesh, Father. Richard William’s team no longer exists. He died last Friday in Indiana, United States. He was 96 years old.

He has lived in this country for about 6 years out of love for Bangladesh. He is the sixth principal of Notre Dame College, one of the pioneers in the field of education in Bangladesh. The science department of the famous university was started by his hand. He also founded Notre Dame College Debating Club (1953), Notre Dame College Science Club (1955), and Notre Dame College Adventure Club (198).

Father Tim was born on March 2, 1923 in the United States. Father Richard William Tim came to Dhaka in 1952. He was both an educator and a biologist, and was actively involved in social development work.

After the catastrophic cyclone of 1970, Father William’s team engaged in relief and rehabilitation activities among the victims in and around Monpura, Bhola.

When the liberation war began, he cooperated with the people of that region. He arrived in Dhaka in August 1971 and secretly collected news about the atrocities of the Pakistani forces. The father’s team sent out various lobbyists, including John Rudy. Through various writings, he opposed the genocide of the Pakistani army and campaigned abroad on the plight of the people of this country and the human rights violations. He has been instrumental in building public opinion in the United States against the murder of Pakistanis.

Father Team has received the Liberation War Medal of Honor from the Government of Bangladesh for his outstanding contribution to the Liberation War. He has also been awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Prize for his life in the service of humanity.
