Mohammad Hossain said that Khairul used to be a contractor. However, after losing millions of rupees, he suffered from a mental disorder. He was also physically ill for several months. Usually he did not leave the house. However, he was in treatment due to mental problems. As the financial crisis intensified, they were also several months behind in renting the house. His son Shahrab understands everything but cannot speak. He also stayed home all the time.
The officer in charge of Hatirjheel Police Station (investigation) Ali Azam told Prothom Alo last night that Khairul had been receiving treatment at the private Samaritan hospital in Panthapath for a month due to mental illness. Khairul is believed to have committed suicide after killing his son. Khairul’s home is in Ramganj upazila in Laxmipur.
