Agitated farmers in India have called for a hunger strike in the Indian capital, Delhi, to demand the repeal of the Farm Bill. Meanwhile, Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will join the farmers’ hunger strike today, according to media reports.
“I will join the farmers’ strike,” Kejriwal said. I will not receive any news at this time. I also ask volunteers from the Aam Aadmi Party to join the fast. The government should quickly accept the farmers’ demands and pass a bill to set the Minimum Price of Livelihood (MSP).
Farmers from Punjab and Haryana have been blocking the Delhi border for the past 18 days. But the Indian government has yet to respond to farmers’ demands. In this situation, the heads of several farmers’ organizations decided to observe a one-day hunger strike on Monday.
Farmers ‘leader Gurnam Singh Chaduni said the farmers’ movement, which has been underway since Monday, will intensify.
He said leaders of various farmers’ organizations will go on hunger strike wherever they are. In addition, demonstrations will also be held at the headquarters of each district in the country. Apart from this, the way protests unfold every day on the Delhi border will continue.
