When IMED asked respondents about their current monthly income, most responded that their average monthly income is Rs 15,000. However, if the Padma Bridge is built, these revenues will increase by 20 to 30 percent.
Respondents had a question, if the Padma bridge opens, where can there be employment. Of these, 55 percent said that people would work as drivers. Forty-two percent said there would be employment in new industries. 36 percent said small and medium-sized businesses. 49 percent said easybikes and autorickshaws. 37 percent said GNC.
There will be a positive impact in the south
According to the IMED report, the number of students in schools and universities will increase if the Padma Bridge is launched. The rate of girls going to college-university will increase. There will be big changes in the health sector. Transportation to the health center will be provided. Women’s employment benefits will increase.
When asked what kind of change the Padma Bridge would bring to the south, Sohail Rana, Headmaster of Padma Bridge Primary School in Bakharkandi, Shibchar, told Prothom Alo that the south was still neglected in all respects. The other way around in all aspects, including education and health. However, once the Padma Bridge is completed, the capital’s communication system with the south will greatly improve. Traffic congestion will be reduced. There will be no more suffering on the ferry. Trade and commerce will expand. There will be new factories in the south. Then there will be employment. Opportunities will be created for low-cost travel in less time.
Sohail Rana further said that any product, including agricultural ones, can be easily brought and taken. The price of land on both sides of the Padma Bridge will increase. There will be a massive improvement in healthcare. There will be changes in the educational system. It will have a positive impact on the southern socio-economic system.
