A statement on the official website of the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Justin Trudeau’s comments on the farmers’ protest were interference in India’s internal affairs. If this continues, the two countries are sure to be affected. And that is why the High Commissioner has been summoned. The statement added that there were protests outside the Indian embassy in Canada following statements by the Canadian prime minister and members of the cabinet. The Indian government has even raised concerns about the safety of Canadian embassy staff.
Speaking at an online event recently, Justin Trudeau said the news of ongoing farmer protests in India was alarming. Canada will always defend the right to peaceful protest.
