In a few days, the Boro rice threshing will begin in full swing at Pirgachha in Rangpur. But in Corona’s current situation, crushing rice can lead to a labor crisis. So the farmers are worried about taking the rice home. In this situation, the Upazila Agricultural Extension Department has distributed combine harvesters to farmers at prices subsidized by the government. Two combine harvesters were distributed between two local farmers at Upazila Parishad on Sunday afternoon.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jasmine Pradhan, Upazila Agriculture Officer Shamimur Rahman, Deputy Director of Plant Protection Abdul Latif, and Deputy Director Abdul Jalil were present as keynote guests.

According to the Upazila Department of Agriculture, the two farmers who purchased the combine harvester through development assistance (government subsidy) under the administrative budget of the Ministry of Agriculture are ABM Akhter Hossain Liton from the village of Anantram and Abdul Gafur Mia from the Dilal Para village.

Each harvester machine costs Rs 28 lakh. The 50 percent government subsidy has been distributed among farmers. With this machine, rice can be cut, sieved, threshed, and bagged. The machine will be distributed to two more farmers on Monday.
