BNP Deputy Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said the number of coronavirus patients and deaths in the country is increasing due to the government’s lack of preparedness to prevent the coronavirus.
He said that today there is a cry for food across the country because of Corona. The unemployed search for food. They rush for food. There is a state of famine in the country. In these difficult times, BNP leaders and activists are providing aid with pocket money and the ruling party members-presidents are stealing rice, pulses and oil.
He said this while distributing various cooked foods and food to the distressed and poor people in Mohammadpur on Friday morning.
Food distribution was organized at the initiative of BNP National Executive Committee member Mahbubul Islam.
Ruhul Kabir criticized the Rizvi government and said that the coronavirus has caused a disaster worldwide today, including Bangladesh. Panic has spread among people. But the current government has not done the kind of prior preparation that was required to deal with Corona in Bangladesh.
‘On the other hand, there are many countries, including Vietnam and Bhutan, that have taken appropriate measures to reduce the number of coronavirus infections and deaths in those countries. As a result, the number of patients and deaths from coronary heart disease is increasing in Bangladesh due to lack of preparation.
He said that unemployed people across the country do not get food. There is a cry for food across the country. There is a state of famine in the country. But what we are seeing is that low-income people who eat day after day cannot afford food. They are crying with hunger. You have fallen into a terrible situation. In this situation, ordinary people are not receiving help from the government. Instead, relief from rice, oil and legumes is found in the home of the member-president of the Awami League. Thousands of bags of rice are found in their homes. The festival of thieves of rice and vegetables has begun in the middle of the epidemic. This is what it means to help poor people. Is this to deal with the disaster?
Rizvi further said that even in the midst of the epidemic, BNP leaders and workers Chhatra Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, Juba Dal and Mahila Dal have supported the poor. But the government does not tolerate it. BNP leaders and activists are under attack and arrested on false charges. Meanwhile, people from the government party are stealing relief. And the BNP people are giving relief with pocket money. For this, the government has chosen the path of oppression. Detention on false charges. No matter how many arrests they make, we are and will continue to stand by the people in this epidemic. InshaAllah, we will continue to support the poor in the month of Ramadan.
