The woman’s funeral was completed on Sunday under the direction of Narayanganj City Corporation.

Shawkat Hashem, councilor for District 12 of the Narayanganj City Corporation, said the woman’s relatives left her body after she died of the coronavirus.

“I received the news on Sunday afternoon and tried to contact my family. But none of them agreed to take the body away.

When the mayor of the city corporation was later informed, he organized a car and a burial, saying, “I, as a local councilman, took the body from the woman’s hospital and turned it over for burial.”

In this regard, the caretaker at the 300-bed Kutapur Gautam Roy Hospital said the woman died of a crown on Saturday night. No one from the family came to collect the body. He said they tried to contact him on his mobile phone but did not answer it.

IEDCR has identified Narayanganj as the riskiest district in the country for coronavirus infection. In this situation, ISPR declared the Narayanganj district under siege since April 8. Among the districts, the city of Narayanganj and Sadar Upazila have the highest number of victims.

A total of 55 people, including an administration official, have died of coronavirus infection in the district.

Narayanganj district civil surgeon, upazila health upazila health and family planning official, Zahidul Islam, 11 doctors, three executive magistrates and 1,261 people have been infected with coronavirus.
