A businessman has filed a lawsuit against five people, including the Kotwali OC Mizanur Rahman Police Station in Dhaka, alleging extortion.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sufian on Tuesday. Noman has ordered an investigation into the case.

The Kotwali Police Station SI Anisul Islam, ASI Khairul Islam, Shahidul Islam and Source Delwar Hossain together with the CO had filed a petition in court on November 16 against the small merchant Md. Rahim.

He claimed that he was returning home from the Charkaliganj Zilla Parishad market on the night of October 12 after work. When he arrived at the Chunkutia Bridge from the South Keraniganj Police Station around 8 pm, he was detained by three unidentified people. They introduced themselves as DB policemen from Dhaka district. They took Rahim to a store and searched him. However, he was unable to retrieve anything from her.

Then SI Anisul Islam, ASI Khairul Islam and Source Delwar took out 750 pieces of yaba from themselves and said they were found in Rahim. At that time, Anisul Islam told Rahim: ‘If you don’t want to get caught, collect two lakh rupees. If not, I’ll fix a drug dealer and hang him on the case.

Rahim then handed over a heavy gold chain and 13,000 rupees in cash to Anisul Islam to avoid the case. After contacting the family, Rahim paid another Rs 50,000. Even then, the OC called him and sent him to jail saying that he would show arrest in the case of 10 pieces of yaba.
