A court in Narayanganj Sadar Upazila granted a two-day preventive detention to eight CID officials arrested in connection with the explosion at the Baitus Salat Jame mosque on the west floor of Fatulla.
The Narayanganj Senior Judge Kauser Alam granted them pre-trial detention on Saturday (19 September) afternoon.
Earlier, eight people, including a Titus engineer arrested in connection with a mosque explosion case, were sent to court for a five-day pre-trial detention.
The Narayanganj court inspector of police inspector Asaduzzaman confirmed the pre-trial detention.
Meanwhile, CID DIG Moinul Hasan told a press conference at the Narayanganj district office of the CID that eight people, including an engineer from Titas, were arrested in connection with the explosion at the mosque on Saturday (September 19).
At that time the additional DIG of the CID Imam Hossain and the investigating officer Babul Hossain and many others were present.
The persons arrested are Mohammad Sirajul Islam, Managing Engineer, Titas Gas Company, Fatullah Zone, Narayanganj, Mahmudur Rahman Rabbi, Assistant Manager, Engineer, HM Hasan Shahriar, Assistant Engineer, Manik Mia, Assistant Supervisor, Manibur Rahman, Principal Supervisor, Fatullah Zone, Manibur Rahman Ismail is the boss.
Titus suspended them for negligence after the explosion.
CID DIG Moinul Hasan said the investigation had found evidence of negligence on the part of officials and employees expelled from Titus. Eight Titus officials were arrested in different parts of the city. They will be referred for questioning. If someone else’s negligence is involved in this explosion, it will also be subject to the law.
Meanwhile, the dismissal order read: ‘An explosion occurred at the Baitul Salat Jame mosque in Khanpur, Talla area of the Fatulla police station in Narayanganj district on September 4 at around 8:30 pm. 32 faithful died in the incident. In addition, the property of the mosque has suffered extensive damage. That is why the image of Tito has been tarnished. The explosion took place in the area under the Fatullah area. As the accident occurred due to the negligence of Fatullah Zone officers and employees, eight officers and employees received notices of show of cause and were suspended from their jobs.
By the way, 32 people were killed in a terrible explosion at the Baitus Salat Jame mosque on the night of September 4. The explosion was caused by a fire caused by a short circuit and a gas leak on the Titas gas line.
Six leaks were found in gas pipes dug next to the mosque. Titas Gas Company, the district administration and the fire service have filed separate investigative reports into the incident.
