Sylhet: A woman returning to the UK from an institutional quarantine set up by the administration in Sylhet has been charged with sexual harassment by a hotel employee.
The incident took place at the Nurjahan Hotel in front of Hazrat Shah Jalal (ra) Dargah’s main gate in the city on Thursday (April 1).

It was learned that the hotel employee, who was returning to the UK from 6pm to 12:30 pm on Thursday, repeatedly harassed the woman by calling her on her cell phone. At one point, he tried to enter the room and sexually harass her.
When the woman informed her relatives about these issues, they informed the police. Upon receiving the news, the Kotwali police went to the scene. After hearing the details of the incident, the police arrested the employee named Shaheen for questioning.
An eyewitness named Jamal Ahmed said he went to the room of a quarantined London expat and tried to sexually harass the woman in various ways. When the hotel authorities were informed at the beginning, they ignored it.
The woman’s relatives complained that hotel authorities were asked to show CC pictures of the incident. But they said the CCTV camera was damaged. The woman’s relatives complained that it was a reputable hotel, but the CCTV camera was damaged.
Abu Saeed, in charge of the Shahjalal (R) Research Center of the Kotwali Police Station, who was present at the scene, confirmed the information. He is being questioned at the police station.
In the early morning, 63 passengers, including the woman, arrived at Sylhet Osmani International Airport on a flight from Bangladesh Biman.
Of these passengers, 8 are at the Nurjahan Hotel, 11 at the Anurag Hotel, 16 at the Holigate Hotel, 3 at the Holy Side Hotel, 1 at the Star Pacific Hotel, 1 at the La Rose Hotel, 18 at the La Hotel Vista, 8 at Hotel La Bista, 10 at Hotel Rainbow Guest House and 10 at Royal Plum, were shared at the hotel and sent to quarantine.
