An expatriate merchant named Kobbat Hossain (48) was shot and killed along with his dog in Raozan, Chittagong, police said. The incident took place in the Bara Thakur Para area of the Purbagujra Union of Raozan Upazila at 5.30pm on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Kobbat Hossain, a resident of the Medina de Bara Thakur Para residential area in Raozan Upazila’s East Gujra Union.
Citing locals, police said Kobbat Hossain returned home from the United Arab Emirates two months ago. He then took the pistol licensed in his name from the Raozan Police Station. Today he saw many dogs in front of the house and went to chase them first. But it didn’t work and he brought a gun from home and fired. At that moment a dog died. She was later shot because of ‘Miss Firing’. He was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, where the doctor on duty pronounced him dead.
