Mostafizur Rahman, a former student of Rajshahi University, was returning to work in Savar from his home in the village. When he got off the bus in Shimultala on the Dhaka-Aricha road and went a little further on the CRP road, some young people tried to go around him. Mostafiz ran to save his belongings and money. But he couldn’t go very far. The young men chased him, grabbed him and tried to take his bag from him. At one point, the young man snatched the bag from him after hitting Mostafiz. The entire incident was captured on Saturday morning on a closed circuit camera in a house next to the site.
According to locals, before the incident was reported on camera, everyone thought the incident was just a traffic accident.
Mostafiz’s house is in the village of Durgapur in Rajshahi in Nawapur. She used to work at Glorious International School and College in the Kamalapur area of Birulia Union. After graduating from the philosophy department of Rajshahi University in 2019, Mostafiz joined the educational institution a year ago as an administrative officer.
He went home to look for his wife and son in the village house. But maybe for some reason they didn’t come. As a result, he returned to Savar alone. Mostafiz’s colleague Soukhin Aziz gave this information.
Locals say they called the police emergency service at 999 after seeing the bloodied body. The police went and recovered the body of the young man. Not far from the body was found a sack full of vegetables, an ATM card from the bank and an identity card from the philosophy department of Rajshahi University.
Jubayer Hasan, principal of Glorious International School and College in Savar, said Mostafizur joined his educational institution a year ago as an administrative officer. I knew of his death. He also contacted the family. Mostafizur lived in the Dagarmora de Savar area.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Savar Model Police Station, AFM Sayed, said a man reported a traffic accident in the CRP area at 999 on Saturday morning. Police found the body of the young man on the side of the road. Police confirmed his identity by looking at the identity card next to the body.
He added that Mostafiz had a large wound on the left side of his chest. He died due to excessive bleeding from that wound. Police found CCTV cameras in a nearby home without immediately witnessing the incident. Later, the police went there and discovered that the entire incident was recorded on camera.
The images show Mostafiz being stabbed and three young men fleeing with a black bag that belongs to him. An attempt is being made to identify the killers by reviewing the images, the police officer said. Mostafiz’s body was recovered and sent to the Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
