Amir Allama Junaid Babungari of Hefazat-e-Islam has issued a stern warning about the killing and wounding of leaders and activists by law enforcement officials in protest of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bangladesh. “A drop of blood will take revenge on the Touhidi people killed in clashes with the police over the arrival of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said. He demanded exemplary punishment for those involved in the incident.

Babungari said this in a press release on Saturday (March 26).

In a statement, he called on Hefazat-e-Islam to hold peaceful protests across the country on Saturday (March 26) in protest at the killing and injuries of leaders and activists in a protest rally against the arrival of Narendra Modi.

Babungari said: “In protest at the arrival of Modi, the butcher from India, yesterday (Friday), Baitul Mukarram in Dhaka, Jatrabari, Hathazari in Chittagong, Brakshanbaria and other places in the country, about six people have been martyred by gunfire against the Touhidi people and some 400 people have been shot and fired by tear gas canisters. Such an unpleasant incident of police officers shooting in a peaceful movement can never be accepted. The administration must give an answer under the direction of who the innocent and unarmed students were attacked and martyred and the accused police officers must receive exemplary punishment.

Amir of Hefazat said: “This movement of the Touhidi people was not against the country or against the government. The movement was in protest of the arrival in Bangladesh of Modi, the bloodthirsty Muslim, who destroyed Babri Masjid. Such a barbaric attack by the police against the Touhidi people in this peaceful movement cannot be tolerated. I condemn and protest strongly.

He said: ‘The people of Touhidi have organized peaceful demonstrations in different parts of the country, including Hathazari in Dhaka and Chittagong to protest against the arrival of Modi. There have been reports of attacks on protesters in various places. In Hathazari, four brothers were martyred by the police for a piece of my neck. The blood shed from the bodies of martyrs will never be allowed to be in vain. Revenge will be taken for the Touhidi people killed in police shooting.

Mentioning that blood has been shed in Bangladesh due to Modi’s arrival, all three said: ‘Modi will have to leave Bangladesh soon. Modi cannot be a murderer of Muslims in the 90 percent Muslim-inhabited Bangladesh.

The Hefazat leader said: “I express my deepest condolences and my deepest condolences to the grieving families of those who were martyred in this tragic incident.” May Allah Ta’ala grant the martyrs a high place in Paradise. And I ask the government, the administration and the competent authorities to make arrangements for the compensation of those killed in the police shootings and for the proper treatment of the wounded.
