Turkey has discovered another 65 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the Black Sea, according to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

He made the remarks while visiting the Fatih search ship on Saturday.

As a result, he said, Turkey’s total gas reserves reached 405 billion cubic meters in the Tuna-1 zone. It has become one of the largest Black Sea hydrocarbon reserves that we have discovered.

Erdogan’s announcement was preceded by the discovery of the country’s largest gas reserves in the Black Sea last August.

He said that last August, with the news of 320 billion cubic meters of gas reserves in the Black Sea, the Fatih exploration ship gave “great joy” to Turkey, now it has brought more good news.

This summer, the Fatih exploration ship discovered the Sakaria gas field in the Tuna-1 area, 160 kilometers off the northern coast of Turkey, where it discovered the largest gas reserves in Turkish history. The country has said it hopes to have several more gas fields.

It has been said that Turkey will start extracting gas from these gas fields by 2023.
