The England cricket team returned to Sri Lanka in March prior to the start of the series due to an outbreak of the corona virus. The new calendar for the suspended series has been finalized. The two-team series will take place in January 2021.
Bangladesh was scheduled to visit Sri Lanka last October. However, the series was postponed due to various conditions imposed by Sri Lanka on the quarantine issue. Due to the corona virus, the 14-day quarantine period set by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board against the Bangladesh team is not against the English.
Sri Lanka Cricket has confirmed that England will tour Sri Lanka in January next year. Both games of the two-game test series will be played at Gaul International Cricket Stadium. The first game of the series will begin on January 14 and the second game will begin on January 23.
England will arrive in Sri Lanka on January 3, 11 days before the start of the series. England did not receive the mandatory 14-day quarantine rule for the Bangladesh team’s tour of Sri Lanka last October. In fact, England does not have to observe any quarantine in Sri Lanka. The English have been asked to observe a 14-day quarantine in their home country before leaving for Sri Lanka.
Upon arrival in Sri Lanka, the England team member will be able to go to the biosecurity zone after testing for Covid-19 in the PCR and can then start practicing. However, there is no preparation match before the two-match test series. However, the English will play two preparation matches against each other.
