Electoral boycott of two independent candidates in Chatmohar, Pabna

Two hours after the start of elections in the Chatmohar municipality of Pabna, two candidates have called for a boycott of the polls on various charges, including the expulsion of agents from the center. They voted as independent candidates without getting nominated by the Awami League and BNP. The BNP candidate complained of irregularities in the electoral college but did not announce any decision to boycott the polls.

The two independent candidates who boycotted the vote are the current mayor and former deputy general secretary of the Upazila Awami League, Mirza Rezaul Karim, and the rebel BNP candidate, Abdul Mannan.

Among others, the candidate of the Awami League and president of the Upazila Awami League, Sakhoyat Hossain, and the candidate of the BNP, the Municipal Coordinator of the BNP, Md. Asaduzzaman.

Abdul Mannan announced his boycott at a press conference in front of the Sabuj Sangha Club in Chatmohar around 9am. His symbol was the mobile phone. Mirza Rezaul Karim announced the boycott at a press conference at his home in the municipality’s Chhota Shalikha Mahalla around 10 am. His symbol was the jug.
