Police arrested three people accused of gang raping a 14-year-old madrasa student and her younger brother’s girlfriend in Araihazar of Narayanganj.
They are Tubewell Mistry Nazrul Islam, 25, son of Motalib from the Brahmandi Madhyapara area of Araihazar Upazila’s Brahmandi Union, his older brother Badal, a rickshaw shooter, 38, and his cousin Musha, 24, son of Abul Hossain from the same area.
The victim is an eighth grade student from a madrasa in the local Dighaldi area.
The incident took place on the night of October 12 in the forest on the shore of the pond behind the Brahmandi Government Hospital. The victim’s mother filed a case against the three on Thursday night.
On Friday, the police sent the three defendants to a court in Narayanganj.
In the statement, the student’s mother mentioned that the victim was studying in eighth grade at a madrasa in the Dighaldi area. He used to stay in the madrasa lodge. If there is a problem with the hostel’s water tank, he goes home to bathe on October 12 and then returns to the madrasa. That same day, around 6 in the afternoon, he went to the madrasa to look for his daughter, but the doorman informed him that his daughter was not at the madrasa. Later, they called his mobile phone more than once but no one received it.
In addition, he said that in the case, last Thursday afternoon, a man named Mubarak from the local Prabhakardi area called and reported the location of the girl. Later, they took him home and it emerged that Nazrul had been proposing to him for a month with the identity of Sagar. On October 12, around 6:30 pm, he was called and taken to the Rabindra Babu pond behind the Brahmandi Government Hospital. There, Nazrul, her older brother Badal, and their cousin Musa forcibly raped their daughter in turn.
The Officer-in-Charge (CO) of the Araihazar Police Station Nazrul Islam said the victim’s mother had filed a case for the incident. Meanwhile, three defendants have been arrested.
Earlier, a 40-year-old widow was gang-raped in the local Naikahan area of Araihazar at around 6:30 pm on October 6. The accused Ali Akbar (45) has been arrested and sent to court. The other defendants in the case are: A. killed in the Naikahan area. Malek’s son Mostafa (55), the late Rahmat Ali’s son, Anarul (40), Dr. Liton, Hossain Miah’s son (32), Tariqul Islam (35), Khoka Miah’s son, and Shaheen (32 ), son of Lashkar Ali, from the same area.
