CID police arrested eight people, including a fired Titus officer and employee, in connection with the explosion and the victims at the Baitus Salat Jame mosque on the west floor of Narayanganj. CID DIG Mainul Hasan said at a press conference at the Narayanganj branch of the district police superintendent’s office on Saturday noon.
The people arrested are- Titus Fatullah, Area Chief Engineer. Sirajul Islam, Deputy Manager Mahmudur Rahman Rabbi, Assistant Engineer SM Hasan Shahriar, Assistant Engineer Manik Mia, Senior Supervisor. Munibur Rahman Chowdhury, Senior Developer. Ayub Ali, said the assistant. Hanif Mia, said the clerk. Ismail is the boss.
DIG Mainul Hasan further said that all those arrested have fulfilled their duties on the ground. Preliminary investigations into the explosion have found evidence of his guilt. They were arrested on Saturday morning in their respective areas. DIG Mainul Hasan also said that the request for pre-trial detention to question the detainees will be sent to the court today.
It can be mentioned that on the night of September 4, during the Esha prayers, an explosion occurred at the Baitus Salat Mosque on the west floor. The Titas investigation committee said the explosion was caused by a gas leak in a gas pipeline below the mosque. All eight Titus officials were later fired for the incident.
