As universities have long been closed due to the novel coronavirus, the country’s eminent academics have suggested taking only the final year of honors and graduate exams to ease students from the session jam. According to them, students at these two levels are at greater risk due to session congestion.

National educator and professor Sirajul Islam Chowdhury said that the country’s engineering and medical universities can take senior and academic year graduate exams on their respective campuses in accordance with health standards. Because, if educational institutions do not take such measures, they will be at greater risk of session jams. The BSS news agency reported the news.

Sirajul Islam Chowdhury further said that higher education institutions have to think that if they do not take the exam of at least seniors, they will run a great risk of jamming in the session. For all other students, Sirajul Islam Chowdhury’s advice is to consider whether the situation can be reduced to at least one semester to reduce the session.

Sirajul Islam Chowdhury said government universities could start online classes one month after the closure of educational institutions. It may or may not have been possible to ensure the attendance of 100% of students without engineering and medical universities; However, they could decide whether to take the test or an alternative. This would have reduced the frustration of those who are going to finish their education.

Educational institutions are now waiting for the decision to open. Students must wait six months to a year to complete higher education. Which will also have an impact on the start of their careers.

Regarding the fear of students getting stuck in the session, Bass said that the session jam cannot be avoided even if honors seniors and graduates take their final exams and make all the preparations to take the exams. second semester before the end of the year. Students say that the new coronavirus has frustrated all their expectations and the same has happened to students of engineering and medicine.

Even if a six-month semester ends in four months and a one-year semester ends in 10 months, students will need another eight months and ten months to complete the rest of their studies.

Students said that if the university did not adopt an alternative plan to take the exam, there would be no way to avoid the session jam. At least one year will be lost. Professor Syed Manjurul Islam, a former professor in the English department of Dhaka University, expressed the same opinion, saying that a good solution would be to take the final year exams of the undergraduate and graduate classes.

Professor Syed Manjurul Islam said: “It seems that we have to deal with Corona for a long time. This time we have to think normally about everything from just sitting at home. The university should guarantee the Covid-19 testing facilities so that students can easily take the Covid test if needed. In addition to ensuring compliance with all hygiene practices on campus. At the same time, students must remain in quarantine for at least 14 days after entering campus. University authorities must also ensure that no student can leave campus unnecessarily. Failure to do so could be of concern to both students and teachers.

The Dhaka Medical College (DMC) authorities are already preparing for the supplementary exam last year. The students have already been taken to the classroom and kept in quarantine for 14 days. The test will take place on October 28. The test was supposed to take place last May.

DMC Director Khan Abul Kalam Azad said: “If we are able to perform the test correctly according to hygiene rules, we will bring students from other groups to the room and try to test in the same way.” .

Dhaka University authorities said they have also allowed various departments to carry out such end-of-year and graduate exams.

The Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Agricultural University, Prof. Lutful Hasan said that the proposal to take undergraduate and graduate examinations is positive and is a good solution to close the session. All universities are making progress in adopting this method to avoid any kind of chaos. However, in this case, the Ministry of Education, UGC and all stakeholders should have made a concerted effort.

Satya Prasad Majumder, Vice Chancellor of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, said it would not be right to cut down on the courses and curriculum at all. This will raise doubts about the quality of education.

The final year exams of different batches of about 30 departments at Jahangirnagar University are closed. These tests were supposed to take place between March and April. Your senior exams are coming up.

Chittagong University (CU) began taking online classes from September 6. However, student attendance is low. CU authorities have yet to make a decision on the test. The fear of long jam sessions is working among students.
