The plaintiff in the rape case is on hunger strike to demand the immediate arrest of the perpetrators and sponsors of the rape and to guarantee the maximum punishment.

He went on a hunger strike at the foot of the Raju anti-terrorism sculpture at Dhaka University on Thursday night. At that time, at least twenty leaders of the Chhatra League took a position here expressing their solidarity with him.

They are Farida Parveen, President of Kuwait Maitri Hall BCL, Jerin Tasni Purni, Former Joint Coordinator of Eden Women’s College BCL, Tilottama Sikder, Deputy Cultural Secretary of BCL, Farzana Nipa, Vice President of BCL, Benazir Bhutto, Deputy General Secretary of BCL.

In addition, some leaders and activists from the Dhaka University student union also expressed their solidarity.

The victim, a DU student, told reporters that rape has become an epidemic. I am also a victim of that. Previously, I filed a case at the Lalbagh Kotwali Police Station. So far no one has been arrested in the case of my hunger strike. Today we have started this hunger strike to arrest the accused in the shortest time.

He further said: “I have filed a case at the Lalbagh Kotwali Police Station. I have contacted the Police Station more than once to conduct an investigation.” The police are saying, we are trying to catch the defendant. We have spread the net on the net but the defendants are tech experts, they are not using any device. That is why they cannot catch.

“Since then, I have appealed to the court twice,” he said. “This is a non-bail offense and there is no need for court instructions,” the petition says. The police can arrest the accused at any time if they wish.

The Lalbagh Police Station’s investigation report was supposed to be delivered on October 6, but was made on October 28. There have been a few cases across the country since I filed the case. The defendants have been arrested in those cases.
Today is the 17th to present my case. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving office. I think the police are affected. And the defendants are not being detained because they are influential, for some unknown reason, or because of some invisible force.

Mentioning that he will continue his fast until the arrest of the accused, he said: “I will stay here until the accused is arrested and, if necessary, I will go on a hunger strike to death.”

Earlier in the evening of September 20, Student Rights Council coordinator (temporarily removed) Hasan Al Mamun, Nazmul Hasan, Nurul Haque Nur, Md. A case was brought against Saiful Islam, Nazmul Huda and Abdullah Hill Baki.
