The DU student is on hunger strike to demand the arrest of Nurul Haque Nur, former Vice President (VP) of the Central Student Union of Dhaka University (Daksu) and his associates. On Thursday night (October 8), he went on a hunger strike in front of the Raju anti-terrorist sculpture at the university.
The student on hunger strike said: I too am a victim. Previously, I filed a case at the Lalbagh Kotwali Police Station. So far no defendants have been arrested in the case. This is my hunger strike to arrest the accused in a short time.
He added: ‘I filed the case 17 days ago. Why don’t they arrest anyone after such a long time? I think the police are affected. The defendants are influential. The defendants are not being arrested for some unknown reason or some invisible force.
Central BCL Deputy General Secretary Benazir Hossain Nishi, Deputy Cultural Editor Tilottama Sikder, Deputy Secretary for Texts and Publications and Chairperson of the Bangladesh-Kuwait Friendship Hall, Farida Parveen, Dhaka University Branch Vice President, Farzana Nipa, expressed their solidarity with the students on hunger strike. , Jerin Tasnim Purni, BCL Joint Coordinator of Eden College Branch, and Mohsuna Khatun Maisha, BCL Leader, Mitali Mandal and several other leaders.
On the night of September 20, the Dhaka University student filed a case with the Lalbagh Police Station against Nurul Haque Nur for alleged collaboration in the rape. Six people were charged in the case.
Police arrested Nur around 7:30 pm on September 21. He was arrested on charges of rape and assault on the police. Then they took him to DB’s office. He was discharged at 12:35 pm after receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
