With this provision, the cabinet has approved the draft of ‘Aviation Policy and Drone Registry-2020’. The virtual cabinet meeting was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

After the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam told reporters:

Anwarul Islam said, “It has been discussed and met for 6/7 months. Everyone’s opinion has been divided into four categories. “

‘One class: The class secretary said the class was made to entertain, adding that drones used as toys would be in this category. It must weigh less than five kilograms. If you weigh more than five kilograms, you will no longer fall for entertainment.

Class B’: In this non-commercial category, drones weighing more than five kg can fly for various purposes, in which case there cannot be any commercial purpose.

With one example, the cabinet secretary said: “Many people (who use drones) see (observe) different things. For example, for your own work, such as forestry studies, research or book writing. “

Class ‘C’: Drones weighing more than five kg can be flown in this category for commercial work, said the cabinet secretary.

He said: “Somewhere there will be a survey on land or crops, there will be a processing industry. He wants to set up an industry to make pineapple jelly, maybe he can do a survey in the CHT, how much production can come, who can be a farmer in the contract, all this is for commercial purposes.

Class ‘D’: This class is intended for state or military purposes.

The cabinet secretary said: “Drones have been used in state works, such as the Padma bridge. We have been using drones for the last four years. Playing with drones is all I need.

“The dredging must be done in Matarbari. The big ship cannot come. As she did in Maheshkhali. The modern technology for these is the drone. For these or army drones they are classified as ‘D’. Permission is not required for these uses.

The cabinet secretary said the use of drones for entertainment or sports and for military or state needs would not be allowed.

And in cases where permission must be obtained to fly drones, civil aviation will specify from whom the permit must be obtained.

When asked where the drone could or could not be flown, Anwarul said: “Green, red and yellow zones have been created. You cannot exceed 500 feet for toys or entertainment. The rest have to get permission.”

Of these, flying drones in the red zone is strictly prohibited for the general public. For example, inside the airport, inside the cantonment. No one will be allowed to fly drones on the Padma Bridge either. ‘Key point installation’ or KPI Drones cannot be flown indoors.

“To fly drones in these areas, one has to obtain permission not only from civil aviation but also from the KPI authority. For example, if an international organization makes a documentary on Padma, then civil aviation will not only have to give permission, but also the KPI Authority. “
