Due to the coronavirus, the online National Identity Card (NID) service launched on holidays has received a great response. More than 60,000 voters have downloaded copies of their NIDs within 24 hours of the service launch. This information has been released by the National Identity Card Division of the Electoral Commission.
The Electoral Commission’s NID section began providing six types of services to online voters as of Monday (April 26). Collection of copies of national identity card, collection of national identity card number, correction of national identity card, lost national identity card application, registration of new voters and SMS service of those registered as voters. Brigadier General Saidul Islam, general manager of the NID division, launched the service through an online press conference on Monday.
The NID subdivision said there was a great response to the program immediately after the launch. Among services, new voters are known to know their national identity card number through SMS and download and print online copies of identity cards online.
When asked about this, squad leader Kazi Ashiquzzaman, who is in charge of the commission’s Idea Project communications department, told the Bengali Tribune that they are receiving a lot of response from them on the online service. In the last 24 hours, more than 60,000 NIDs have been copied online. Most of NID’s online copy collectors are new voters, he said.
The official said voters are responding to other services, including SMS.
69 lakh 57,341 new voters have been added to the updated voter list released on March 2. These registered voters have not yet received the card. Through the online service, new voters will be able to collect copies of NIDs online. To obtain this service online, the voter must enter the site https://services.nidw.gov.bd.
How to get the NID number through SMS on mobile: nid
Registered but did not receive the NID card. They will go to the ‘Other Information’ tab of the website https://services.nidw.gov.bd and give the form number and date of birth (DOB) in the NID number link and get the NID number of the applicant.
Those with NID numbers can log in to the online portal by registering with NID information and mobile phone number in the online portal. Login and then enter the request form to see all the data. If the registered person has not received the card before, you can pick up a NID copy from the portal if you wish.
During the month of Ramadan, the service will be available from 9 am to 3 pm by calling the National Identity Registration Division call center.
