Rony Mia pleaded guilty in court to the murder of two sisters in East Nakhalpara in the Tejgaon Industrial Zone in the capital. He pleaded guilty in court on Sunday.
Ronnie Mia said in his statement that he went home to offer to get his ex-wife Yasmin Akter back. So Yasmin wasn’t home. Later, he had a fight with his sister-in-law Shimu Akhter. At one point, Shimur was strangled to death. While covering the body with a sheet, Yasmin came home and saw the incident. When the discussion started, I killed Yasmin with the photos I had in the house.
Ronnie divorced his wife, Yasmin Akter, four months ago because he was a drug addict and a professional gamer, police said. Since then they have been separated. On January 1, Yasmin and her younger sister Shimu grew up at their home in Nakhalpara. Ronnie lives in a rickshaw garage in Maghbazar. The late Yasmin was a garment worker and Shimu had recently joined an organization in the Nabisco area. His home is in Narsingdi. Rony’s house is in Jamalpur.
Hafiz Al Farooq, ADC of the Tejgaon Industrial Area Police, told Jugantar that locals arrested Rony and handed him over to the police after the incident. Ronnie was later arrested and sent to court. He has confessed to the murder.
Citing Rony, an official involved in the investigation said Ronnie went home around 1:15 p.m. Sunday and spoke with his sister-in-law Shimura as he couldn’t find his ex-wife. He asks Shimu to convince Yasmin to return home. At that moment, Shimu told him that his sister’s decision was correct. There is no possibility that he will return to his family. Enraged, he strangled Shimur and killed him. Later, when Yasmin returned home, he beat her to death.
According to locals, Ronnie stabbed his wife in a room on the third floor of building No. 253/3 in East Nakhal for around 1 p.m. when people in the vicinity saw her through the window. Later, when people gathered around, Ronnie closed the door. The surrounding people broke the door and entered the room. When they entered the house, they saw the frozen bodies of two women lying there and reported it to the police.
According to family sources, Ronnie used to ride a rickshaw but was unemployed most of the time. Besides gambling, Ronnie also used drugs. This caused a dispute between husband and wife. Yasmin divorced Ronnie four months ago for not staying away from gambling and drugs. Ronnie was angry.
