The president made the remarks in a video message on the occasion of Supreme Court Day on Friday.

Referring to his experience in the legal profession, the President said: “As a lawyer, I know how difficult and complicated the judicial process is. How much work a judge has to do in conducting court proceedings. But even then, I would say that judges they must do more to control the growing number of cases.

“The government firmly believes in the independence of the judiciary and is committed to ensuring the professional benefits of judges. But judges must be careful that candidates do not have to walk across the courthouse day after day to obtain a copy. of the verdict after the verdict of the case ”.

The Independent High Court of Bangladesh was established on December 16, 1972. The first court hearing was held on December 16 as a holiday.

In 2016, the Supreme Court administration decided to observe Supreme Court Day on December 16 of each year. The event was held in the Auditorium of the Supreme Court on Friday.

When requesting the digital preservation of all the activities of the Supreme Court, the president said: “By carrying out the processes in a virtual way, it has been possible to guarantee justice to those who seek justice without physical presence in the court’s facilities.” For this I sincerely thank everyone involved in this activity.

“Currently, the online case list has been entered into the Supreme Court and the online bell confirmation system is working effectively. I also ask that all court proceedings be carried out in digital format. Since the Court Suprema is a ‘Registry Court’, I think it is very important to digitally preserve all its documents and all its activities, from the presentation of a case to the announcement of the verdict. “

The president said that article 28 of the Constitution of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh states that “all citizens are equal before the law and are entitled to equal protection of the law.”

Remember, a seeker of justice has a right to justice. And it is our responsibility and duty to guarantee that right of the citizen. There is no question of goodness or favor here. Judges, lawyers and all stakeholders, responsible for the country, the people and the constitution, will guarantee the rule of law and justice through the application of their talents and thoughts, on the day of the Supreme Court, that is everyone’s expectation ” .

Abdul Hamid said that one of the goals of sustainable development is to create opportunities for justice for all through the establishment of a peaceful and just society.

“The relationship between development, justice and the rule of law is very close. One thing to keep in mind is that if the dispute is not resolved properly, there will be a crisis of trust. And if this process continues over and over again, a crisis may arise. chaotic situation in the state and society.

“The judiciary initially resolves disputes and alleviates the anger of the people. It eliminates inequality in society and maintains political and economic stability in the state. And thus sustainable development is ensured.”

On the occasion of the Mujib Year, the Father of the Bangandhu Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was honored and led by Judge M Enayetur Rahim.

The function was presided over by the President of the Supreme Court Syed Mahmud Hossain, the Minister of Justice Anisul Haque, Judge Mirza Hossain Haider, the Attorney General AM Amin Uddin, the Secretary of the Bar of the Supreme Court Ruhul Quddus Kajal, among others , participated in the function.

The digital version of the commemorative book ‘Supreme Court of Bangladesh’ was released on the occasion. A documentary on the history of the Supreme Court was also screened.
