He made the call on a video conference from his official residence at a funeral for the late footballer Badal Roy on Saturday.

Quader, who was in charge of the sports and youth ministry at one point, said: “Sports should be kept separate from politics. One should not be adversely affected by the other. Everyone has political beliefs, they can have them. That is why its effect should not fall on the green carpet of the field ”.

He said: “Sports federations are not a place to change your destiny. The playground is a breeding ground for Sukumar’s scholarship to keep millions of the country’s youth away from diversion. The stadium must be kept clean. Then the young generation will have confidence, society will change.

“Drugs have spread like a tsunami in today’s society. We need to focus more on sports to keep young people away from this drug addiction. If young people get involved in sport and culture, they will develop a good mindset.” .

Obaidul Quader, who called the late Badal Roy a brave and skilled soccer player and organizer, said: “He has played for Mohammedan in a black and white jersey for more than two decades. Many people think that Abahani means Awami League and Mohammedan means BNP anti-Awami League opponent. Badal Roy has shown this to be a mistake.

“Badal Roy was a leader of the Awami League from head to toe. A dedicated worker in tough times. But the playground is a symbol of Muhammad’s confidence. His commitment to politics was as deep as his commitment to Muhammad, Bangabandhu and Sheikh Hasina. “

Quader said: “The courtesy of Badal Roy was incomparable. Values and courtesy are being lost from our politics today. Instead, hatred in politics has spread like a virus. We have to get out of this. “

Calling on the people to keep the corrupt out of politics, the Awami League general secretary said: You must stay away from leadership.

“Otherwise, good people will not have a place in politics. The corrupt, abusive and occupiers must be boycotted. Their number is not high. We have to bring in honest moral sacrificers in the party, society and the state.”

The Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, Obaidul Quader, said: “The coronavirus does not belong to any individual or group, so it is necessary to tackle the virus in a united way, regardless of party affiliation.”

The member of the Advisory Council of the Awami League, Mozaffar Hossain Paltu, the Secretary of Youth and Sports, Harnoor Rashid, and leaders of various federations and sports journalists, players and organizers were present at the meeting organized by the sports family.
