Joining the protest, actress Jaya Ahsan said, “Every animal is important to civilization.” Taking dogs out of the city will be “destructive”.
Dhaka South City Corporation has decided to relocate 30,000 dogs from the city to another location, a report has been released citing the public relations officer of the municipal corporation.
Dhaka South City Corporation has announced the relocation of 30,000 dogs from the city of Dhaka. The painting is exhibited on Fridays and Saturdays at the initiative of the People for Animal Welfare Foundation.
In protest, a mural on Saat Masjid Road at Dhanmondi 10 in the capital on Saturday highlighted the need for survival of dogs and other animals. The mural was painted by the People for Animal Welfare Foundation (PAW) with volunteer painters.
The painters began painting on Friday morning with the title “Fight for survival in Pathakukur-Muyalchitra.” The two-day program ended Saturday night with a protest by animal-loving painters and environmentalists.
In addition to actress Jaya Ahsan, many animal lovers joined the program, including painter Kanak Champa Chakma and Dhaka University Professor of Fine Arts Abul Barak Alvi.
At the time, Jaya Ahsan said, “All human beings are needed in the world just like human beings. Dogs have been man’s oldest friend since the beginning of civilization. Without them our civilization does not exist. We want to get them out of town today. Let’s say that the administration or city authorities do their job but they focus on creativity, if they do destructive work there it is not desirable for any of us. Furthermore, there is a law to be approved in this regard, neither the government nor the people are outside this law ”.
The famous actress said: “We need all the animals in our life. We have to have dogs, foxes, snakes, frogs, rats. While they were killing frogs, frogs have disappeared from Bangladesh. That is why we have to give more pesticides to our rice field or land. They are entering our body. We are getting sick from this. “
The painter Kanak Chapa Chakma said: “Not only human beings have the right to live in the world, all animals have the right to live. We have to think about them too. So we must not kill these animals, we must not destroy them by torture. We must all be aware of this. So that we can live in a beautiful world with them. “
Rakibul Haque Emil, Founding President of the People for Animal Welfare Foundation, said: But we see that people go back to how they were before. Many wild animals took refuge on our land during the floods, we killed many animals. We kill a lot of foxes. Now we are again trying to get our old friend, the civilian animal dog, out of the city. We are thinking of eliminating them without any other solution ”.
He said: “Such an inhumane decision by the City Corporation towards the dog, man’s closest friend, is not new. Many people, including city authorities, think that this city is for people only. They forget that the animals and birds of the city have the same right to live in this city as the people. They don’t want to think that if the dogs disappear from the city in a hurry, the city will be occupied by rats and needles.
Highlighting the need for dogs in the city, Rakibul Haque said: “Dogs are the best friends of human beings. Vigilant guard for human safety. Your contribution to the cleaning of the city is endless by eating garbage. But unlike benefits, animals like dogs, cats, and crows have to endure various oppressions. Why is it so stingy to show a little love to an animal as beautiful as a human dog that claims to be its greatest self? Let the city dogs stay in the city with our love and care, let the municipal corporation quickly understand. ”
