Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg tweeted in support of the farmers’ protest near the Delhi border. Disha published the Great Sharing Toolkit. Disha was arrested by the Delhi police in that case. Delhi police have alleged that Greater edited the Disha shared toolkit. The police further claimed that Disha had released the documents creating various WhatsApp groups. Disha has been accused of having ties to a Khalistani group called the Poetic Justice Foundation.
On the other hand, two more social activists, Nikita Jacob and Shantanu Shantanu, came to the attention of the Delhi police shortly after Disha’s arrest. On Tuesday, the court granted Shantanu a 10-day conditional bond. The Bombay High Court on Wednesday granted Nikita a conditional bond for three weeks. The Delhi Police have issued a warrant without bail against Nikita. After that, the social worker approached the court to request advance bond. The Mumbai High Court granted Nikita’s request for advance bail for three weeks with bail of Rs 25,000. Nikita has been charged pursuant to sections 124 (a), 153 (a) and 120 (b) of the Indian Penal Code.
National politics is in full swing with the arrest of Disha Robi. Opposition parties such as Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party have simultaneously attacked the Modi government in protest of Disha’s arrest. On Twitter, Rahul and Priyanka spoke out against the Center. In this context, Priyanka Gandhi wrote on Twitter: ‘Those who bear arms are those who fear an unarmed young woman. That unarmed girl has shown courage. ‘ Like Priyanka, Rahul Gandhi also tweeted against the Modi government. The former president of Congress wrote: ‘The country will not remain silent. Delhi’s chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, called the arrest of Disha, 21, an unprecedented attack on democracy. “It is not a crime to support farmers,” Kejriwal said. Bengal’s Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, also spoke about Disha’s arrest.
