However, the online classes will continue. The decision was made known in a virtual press conference on Monday amid a movement of students from several universities demanding the opening of the room. Dipu Moni.

Students at Jahangirnagar University only stay if they reject the decision of the Ministry of Education. The Dhaka University students did not accept the Minister of Education’s decision and gave a 72-hour ultimatum. However, he subsequently postponed the ultimatum and requested reconsideration of the decision. They are awaiting the decision of the Academic Council on Tuesday. Rajshahi University students have suspended the agitation until Wednesday as a guarantee from the administration. Students at the Islamic University have also reacted angrily to the decision to reopen the hall, calling for it to be reconsidered.
The Education Minister said yesterday at a press conference: ‘Classroom teaching in all universities will start from May 24 after Eid-ul-Fitr. Previously, the room will open from May 16. All university faculty, staff and residential students will be vaccinated against corona before the room opens. However, if there is a logical reason for a student not being vaccinated, it will be considered. During this period, the authorities will make all the preparations for the opening of the university. The necessary renovation and cleaning of the hallways will also be completed.
Currently, educational activities are developed in 48 public universities in the country. In addition, there are 106 approved private universities. Education Minister Dipu Moni said that public universities have a total of 220 residences. Of these, around 130,000 are residential students, who will be vaccinated against the crown on a priority basis.
The minister said: ‘There will be no exams in universities before May 24. However, the online classes will continue. Based on this decision, the application and BCS exam date will be postponed. Steps will be taken to ensure that no candidate over the crown age is harmed in this regard. It is known that the 41st BCS Preliminary Exam is scheduled for March 19. In addition, the 43rd BCS application process continues. The application of this BCS will continue until March 31. The 43rd BCS Preliminary is scheduled for August 8. Concerned people think that the BCS exam is one of the reasons behind the demand to open the room.
The Education Minister said that those in the hall should leave the hall immediately. Also, if someone acts against the discipline of the educational institution, the educational institution will not accept responsibility.
Responding to a question from journalists, the minister said that the opening of the university was not related to the date of the admission test. Because those who will take the admission test are not university students. Even after that, if necessary, the date of the admission test can be set according to the opening of the university.
In response to a question about the reopening of schools and colleges, the education minister said: “Educational institutions are closed until February 28. The next decision will be made in consultation with the National Committee of Technical Experts on Corona. However There is no residential system in the school-college, so we can think differently about them.
Dipu Moni said: “We cannot underestimate the government’s success in reducing corona infection. It can be dangerous to take students into the hallway until they have been vaccinated. Because if one is infected, it can spread throughout the body. Therefore, we cannot ruin the success of controlling the Bangladesh crown due to a hasty decision.
The minister said: ‘There are now 5 lakh 65,430 teacher-officers-employed in the country from secondary to higher education. We plan to vaccinate at least one dose, if possible two doses before opening an educational institution based on their priority.
Jahangirnagar University: Students from Jahangirnagar University have rejected the decision to open the university hall on May 18. They demanded that the decision of the Ministry of Education be reconsidered and that the movement continue until all its demands are met.
Meanwhile, late Sunday night, the university administration issued a notice signed by the registrar instructing the students to leave the classroom at 10 a.m., but no student complied with the morning instruction. When Begum Fazilatun Nesha broke the lock on Mujib Hall yesterday, at least 30 students entered. However, the university’s proctorial body and the administration of their respective corridors approached the students and asked them to leave the classroom during the day. The students remained in the hallway until the latest news was received last night.
Sajib Hossain, a graduate student from the movement, told Kaler Kantha: “Since there has been a confrontation between the locals and the students, we want to stay in the hall due to insecurity. However, what the Minister of Education has said is about educational institutions in general in Bangladesh. But now the situation in Jahangirnagar is different. You have to consider this. We can’t move without the corridor and we have to open it now. ‘
The student agitators demanded five points including the withdrawal of the notice of resignation at a press conference in the campus of the university transport yesterday afternoon. These include keeping it open, identifying and arresting Gerua terrorists within the next 24 hours, forming an investigative committee, collecting unidentified cases, and filing cases against identified individuals.
Student Samia Hasan said: ‘We are rejecting the administration’s statement. We won’t leave the hall. Why did the administration file a case against anonymous people even though the locals were attacked? Since the university administration has not guaranteed our safety, we will no longer be leaving the hall.
Dhaka University: After the Minister of Education’s speech yesterday, agitated students gathered at the foot of the Raju sculpture at Dhaka University to protest. They rejected the minister’s decision and gave a 72-hour ultimatum to open the room. Later, the students delivered a memorandum to the CV with a procession around 4 in the afternoon.
Then around 5 o’clock, a student named Abdur Rahman came out of the VC office and said: ‘I have withdrawn the 72-hour ultimatum. Instead, we have to move towards a comprehensive decision.
Rajshahi University: The movement of students demanding the opening of the residential hall was suspended. The agitated students announced yesterday the suspension of the program until Wednesday under the guarantee of the university administration.
Agitated students said that most of the university’s students had to stay in disorder for a long time as the campus and residential hallways were closed. And because of Corona, the family’s financial situation has become very fragile. As a result, it is not possible to stay in the mess. They are also creating uncertainty about the future. So they have started a movement. However, they have suspended the agitation until Wednesday after receiving assurances from the administration.
RBI supervising professor Lutfar Rahman said: ‘Student demands are not irrational. And it’s not that we don’t think about it. Our CV has informed senior government officials.
