Dhaka: Discussions are under way to reduce working hours in the new curriculum to two days a week for primary and secondary schools and upper secondary universities.
The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) has submitted a preliminary discussion to the Minister-Secretary on including the subject in the new curriculum in 2022.
However, no recommendation or decision has been made in this regard, according to the NCTB and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.
Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education. Akram-al-Hossain told banglanews that no decision has been made on the matter. Only in the negotiation stage.
NCTB President Narayan Chandra said that several topics are being discussed in an outline of the new curriculum for 2022.
He told banglanews: “We have given a draft presentation to the minister-secretary on how many hours the curriculum will last in a year.” It is not an offer, it is nothing.
“We have said that if there are classes for so many days in a year, if there are classes for so many hours or if there are 5 days open in a week, if there are two days off, then what will happen. I have shown a reflection of this in the curriculum. It will stop or not will be a preface. ‘
NCTB president said how many days a week the school is open, how many days it is closed. I have shown such an analysis of how long it takes for the class to be open. Schools are not recommended to close two days a week. We said how many hours are available if the school is closed two days a week.
Currently, government offices have weekly holidays on Fridays and Saturdays, from 9 am to 5 pm. Many colleges also have two days of leave per week. Many schools also have two vacation days a week.
When asked if a decision could be made during school and college holidays two days a week, the NCTB president said, “We have shown it to them, so they can tell.” It is called differently by different people. In fact, this is not our suggestion.
