West Bengal elections
Modi’s electoral meeting in Calcutta today
Shuvendu Adhikari has been Mamata Banerjee’s shadow companion for the past decade and a half. A few months ago, he left the Trinamool Congress and joined the BJP in place of Shibir. This time, Shuvendu is competing against Guru Mamata Banerjee at the Nandigram Center in West Bengal. Naturally, the Nandigram center became a heavyweight.
Mamata Banerjee announced their fight in Nandigram shortly after Shuvendu Adhikari left the party. In return, Shuvendu announced that he would defeat Mamata by a margin of more than 50,000 votes in that constituency. After Trinamool’s congressional candidate list was announced last Friday, Mamata was seen competing only in the Nandigram constituency in Midnapore. He left the center of Bhabanipur in Kolkata.
On Saturday, the BJP announced the list of candidates for 60 seats for the first two terms. Unsurprisingly, Shuvendu Adhikari has become the BJP’s candidate against Mamata. Former Indian cricketer Ashok Dinda is a surprise on the BJP roster. However, Shuvendu has completely taken that light away. 40 percent of Muslim voters in Nandigram. It was from here that Mamata Banerjee started her anti-CPM movement in 2006 to raise public opinion in West Bengal. Mamata Banerjee came out as the face of that move, very loyal Shuvendu Adhikari.
Not only in Nandigram, but also in two districts of Midnapore, the CPM demolished houses and established the Trinamool flag of victory. In 2009, Firoza Bibi of the Trinamool Congress won the by-election for the Nandigram Assembly seat with 40,000 votes. Shuvendu himself won the Tamluk in the Nandigram Lok Sabha constituency by 1 lakh 83 thousand votes. After five years, the gap increased to 2 lakh 46 thousand.
The margin of victory of the Trinamool Congress has also been widened in the constituency of the Nandigram assembly. In 2016, Shuvendu Adhikari became West Bengal’s Minister of Transport by obtaining more than 61,000 votes from this center. In 2019, BJP emerged as a strong opponent in West Bengal. Even then, the Congressional candidate of Trinamool Divyendu Adhikari (? Shuvendu Adhikari’s brother) from the seat of Tamluk Lok Sabha? He won by 1 lakh 90 thousand votes.
After 14 years in that seat, BJP’s Shuvendu has challenged West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Confident mamata is based on the Muslim vote and secular people. In return, Shuvendu claimed that the votes were cast at this center on his behalf. Naturally, this center is heavyweight this time.
Meeting of Narendra Modi in Calcutta
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will come to Kolkata on Sunday to hold an election rally. Everyone is curious about that meeting. One of the reasons for the curiosity is whether Saurabh will come. Mithun Chakraborty and Akshay Kumar can come and go from time to time. However, no one in the BJP is saying anything openly about this. But everyone is curious about what Narendra Modi said against Trinamool.
