Dipan sentenced to death for murder

A court has sentenced each of the eight defendants to death in the murder case of Faisal Arefin Dipan, owner of Jagriti Prakashan. Judge of the Dhaka Special Anti-Terror Court on Wednesday noon Mojibur Rahman announced the verdict.

The investigating officer on the case, Fazlur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Detective Branch (DB), Southern, filed a charge sheet on November 14, 2016, charging eight members of Ansar al-Islam, prohibited by the Anti-Terrorism Act.

They are: Major (fired) Syed Ziaul Haque Zia, Assassin Squad Chief Moinul Hasan Shamim, Coach Abdur Sabur and Main Operators Khairul Islam, Sheikh Abdullah, Abu Siddique Sohail, Mozammel Hussain and Akram Hossain. In this case, the testimony of 23 people has been taken.
