Two hunters were arrested while hunting guest birds at night in Satkhira Sadar Upazila’s Fingri Union area of Georgia. The Deputy Commissioner for Sadar (Lands) said at 11pm on Wednesday. Asaduzzaman raided and arrested them. At that time, 20 guests were rescued with bullets to the chest and wings. Rifles and motorcycles were seized from the poachers.
The arrested bird hunters are Ajmal Huda (35) from the village of Shwetpur at the Budhahata junction of Asashuni upazila and Rafiqul Islam (28) from the village of Patakhali in Shyamnagar upazila.
Satkhira Sadar, Assistant Commissioner (Land), said. Asaduzzaman said the operation was carried out under the direction of Deputy Commissioner SM Mostafa Kamal based on reports that the birds hunted at night. Two bird hunters were arrested along with a rifle and a motorcycle during the operation. In addition, 20 guest birds of different species were rescued after being shot in the chest and wings. They have been handed over to the Satkhira Sadar Police Station for regular processing.

Preparations are underway to take legal action against them.
