Sylhet district has already been declared closed to prevent coronavirus infection. There is a ban on entering and leaving Sylhet in case of closure. Apart from this, the railway movement has been stopped across the country to avoid crown infection. In this situation, an intercity train with about 80 passengers and two bogies from Dhaka arrived at the Sylhet railway station yesterday afternoon. The question arose when the train was running with passengers in the running of the bulls.

However, authorities at the Sylhet railway station claim that some officials arrived at Sylhet from the Kamalapur station in Dhaka with money from the railway workers’ wages.

According to eyewitness sources, a train with two bogies stopped at the Sylhet train station at 5:10 pm yesterday. At that time, about 60 passengers got off the train from two bogies on the train. Among the passengers were a few railway workers, but the majority were ordinary passengers. As soon as the train stopped at the station, they got off with their luggage and quickly left the station area. Witnesses asked some passengers as they had come from Dhaka. Among them were common passengers as well as railway workers.

Executive Magistrate and Deputy Collector, Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Sylhet Md. Ershad Mia. He said: “The train is coming to a standstill: the district administration has not been informed.” Railway officials said that some officials have come to Sylhet with the salaries of the railway employees. A total of 24 people, including the driver and security personnel, were supposed to go to Sylhet by train. But looking at the CCTV images of the train station, I received the account of about 54 passengers. This number may be more. When I asked the station manager about this, he couldn’t give a good answer.

The official said Sunday: “Those who came to Sylhet from Dhaka took additional passengers on the train.” This could lead to some illegal transactions. We have compiled the first and last names of the railway officials and employees who arrived on that train from Dhaka. Last night, Sylhet’s deputy commissioner informed the ministry in writing that he would take action against the 24 people.

Khalilur Rahman, manager of the Sylhet railway station, said: “Some people came to Sylhet from Dhaka to pay the railway workers.” Along the way, the train stopped at each station and handed over the salary. This morning the train returned to Dhaka from Sylhet with the 24 passengers.
