Police arrested two people, including the vice president of the Northern Dhaka Metropolitan League, Sabuj Al Sahab, in a case filed at the Mirpur model police station on rape charges.
On Wednesday night (September 30), a young leader of the Chhatra League filed a case against Sabuj at the Mirpur Model Police Station alleging rape.
Later that night, BCL leader Sabuj and another woman named Bibi Fatema Jhumur (35) were arrested at various locations in the capital. Bibi Fatima has been mentioned in the case as an accessory to the rape.
The victim has been sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for examination.
According to the record, police said Sabuj raped the girl on September 28 at his home in a 60-foot area of the capital.
The Mirpur OC Mostajirur Rahman model police station said the victim filed a case Wednesday night alleging rape. Later that night, Sabuj Al Sahba and Bibi Fatema were arrested.
When asked about the political identities of the detainees, the CO said they had been arrested on rape charges. Political identity is not the key here. However, we are investigating the matter. He said those arrested would be sent to court on Thursday.
