Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has launched a program to distribute financial assistance to 5 million affected families at a cost of 2,500 Tk through mobile banking. It launched the program via videoconference from Ganobhaban. Through development, the government is reaching 1.5 million distressed families before Eid. During Ramadan and Eid, this money will give some relief and will be useful in an emergency.
There is no cost to the beneficiary in the event of withdrawal of this government assistance. The government will pay Tk 15 for the total cost of withdrawal and the rest of Tk 31.25 will be borne by Bikash. Through NID verification, Bikash has ensured that financial assistance reaches the right family. All arrangements have been made so that family members can withdraw the money without hindrance.
In his opening speech, the Prime Minister said that this is the benefit of Digital Bangladesh. No need to carry money in hand. The money will come directly through mobile banking.
A fisherman from Barguna district and a van driver from Shariatpur district, who participated in the event via video conference, were overwhelmed by the financial support and thanked the Prime Minister.
Kamal Qadir, Executive Director of bKash, said: “Thanks to the long-term steps taken by the Bangladeshi government to build a digital Bangladesh, it has been possible to easily reach marginalized people even in today’s epidemic situation.” Bikash is proud to participate in these activities.
He further said that in this time of epidemic, Bikash is completing the job of distributing wages to workers in export-oriented industries with government encouragement. We believe that beneficiaries who have received financial assistance from the Prime Minister at no additional cost will be able to take advantage of the retirement services of the nearest development agent.
