Five hours after the start, the fire at the Demra light factory was not controlled. 150 firefighters from 14 fire service units are working to control the fire. The fire has already spread to four, five, six, seven and eight floors of the 10-story building.
A fire broke out at a light factory at Pasha Tower on Konapara Madrasa Road in Demra just before 5pm on Thursday (November 5). The fire started on the sixth floor of the building. At 5:15 pm, fire service personnel arrived and attempted to control the fire. However, the fire could not be controlled until 9:50 p.m.
Lima Khanam, a duty officer in the fire service control room, told the Bengali Tribune: Scouts from the RAB, the police, the Red Crescent and the BNCC are working as relief agencies on the scene. So far no casualties have been reported. It was not possible to know if someone was trapped there.
He said five units from the fire service were dispatched first after receiving the news. Subsequently, 14 units of the fire service came to the scene to control the fire. The building had a factory to make lights and fans.
