Demonstrations took place at various testing centers in the capital on Saturday on the Bangladesh Bar Council’s written test. In these incidents, it has been reported that the books of many candidates have been broken. There have also been reports of harassment of teachers and exam inspectors.

The president of the Bar Association and attorney general, AM Amin Uddin, said that further action will be taken after receiving the report.

He told The Daily Star that the Bar Association had reportedly had problems with several written test centers. Reports have been requested from test centers. Further action will be taken after receiving the report.

It was learned that some of the candidates, who did not want to take the exams in some of the centers since the morning, left the centers and protested inside and outside the centers. After having the test questions in hand, they did not want to take the test because it was an “unusual” and “difficult” question and forced other candidates to take the test. They tore up the test takers’ books. Teachers and examiners physically assaulted at the center.

Among them, some candidates from Mohammadpur Model School and College, Mohammadpur Women’s College, Mohammadpur Central College and Mahanagar Women’s College from Sutrapur Police Station expressed reluctance to take the exam in the morning. They later prevented the candidates from taking the test and tried to protest in front of the center.

An examinee from Mohammadpur Central College said: ‘We came to take the exam at 9 am. An hour later, some examinees began to protest. They told us to get out of the exam room.

“They took our answer sheets from us and set them on fire,” he said.

Another examinee named Shihab Kausar said: ‘I was taking the exam on the fifth floor of the university. Watching the scenes below, the examiners did not want to test in that situation. Although the test was supposed to end at one o’clock, we were asked to send in our answer sheets around 10:30.

‘We went to the test center but we couldn’t do the test. We are demanding proof again, ‘he said.

Mohammadpur Police Deputy Inspector Newton Mridha told The Daily Star that since exams began in the morning, some of the candidates have been protesting in front of the center. At one point they get excited and enter the testing center.

And some of the test takers inside the test center tore the book without taking the test and forced other test takers to take the test. Said the books were taken from them.

He said that adequate police had been deployed to the centers to control the situation. Currently the situation is normal.

On the other hand, the Officer-in-Charge (CO) of Sutrapur Police Station, Mamunur Rahman, said that some candidates left in the morning without taking the test. They began to protest with the help of relatives waiting outside and some outsiders.

Police took position there and then the examination went smoothly, he said.

According to sources, the written test for the candidates to the legal profession was scheduled for September 26, but due to the situation in Corona, it was postponed to December 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This year, the Bar Association conducted this written test for about 13,000 candidates in nine educational institutions in the capital.

Previously, a section of candidates was campaigning for defense enrollment through an oral exam without a written exam.
