Conscious citizens of the district have gathered in Thakurgaon demanding the unconditional release of detainees in the case of the Digital Security Law and the repeal of the law.
The program was watched at a safe distance at the city crossing at 12 noon on Saturday.
In Thakurgaon, people from different classes and professions, including teachers, journalists, cultural activists and students, have expressed their solidarity with the Conscious Citizens initiative.
Speakers at the hour-long protest rally said that while the World Health Organization said the crown should be treated to ensure the free flow of information, it was clear that journalists were being sued for reporting on the theft relief.
They said: ‘In the current situation in Corona, mismanagement and looting are rampant. Doctors and police are under attack in Corona. People struggle to survive and a class is busy seeking help. And those who speak of this corruption, irregularities and inconsistencies, protest, try to present the real image are being eliminated. Later, a false case is being filed against him under the Information Technology Act for spreading rumors.
Already, many journalists, cartoonists, writers, intellectuals and political activists have been detained under the law. The cases are still pending on behalf of many. Speakers alleged that the arrests were being made again to spread a terrifying situation across the country.
In this situation, the immediate withdrawal of the case against the detainees and their unconditional release were demanded.
Protesters also demanded an end to state terrorism, including disappearances and extrajudicial executions.
