The Central Committee of Muktiyuddha Mancha is holding a seven point protest demanding the immediate arrest of Mamunul Haque and Faizul Karim for insulting the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and opposing the construction of a sculpture by Bangabandhu.
They held the program on Saturday (November 28) at Shahbagh in the capital. Leaders and activists of the organization held a protest procession before the rally.
Their demands are: 1. The religious entrepreneurs Mamunul Haque and Faizul Karim should be arrested and receive exemplary punishment for insulting the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and opposing the construction of the Bangabandhu sculpture.
2. Every educational institution, district and upazila in the country has to build a sculpture of Bangabandhu.
3. In the interest of maintaining communal harmony, politics based on religion should be banned in Bangladesh immediately and political activities in mosques and holy madrasas should stop.
4. Spreading rumors of religious provocation through various religious gatherings and social gatherings and identifying propagandists and subjecting them to the law should be exemplary punishment.
5. The maximum punishment for those accused of rape as rape should be the death penalty.
. The madrassa education system should be streamlined and vigilance intensified by creating a control cell to stop the sexual harassment of madrassa students.
. Steps should be taken to make it mandatory for all educational institutions in the madrasah to play the national anthem regularly, raise the national flag, build the Shaheed Minar and tell the story of the liberation war.
Leaders and activists from Dhaka and surrounding districts participated in these programs. The president of the organization Aminul Islam Bulbul, General Secretary Al Mamun, sculptor Rasha, former Supreme Court Justice Samsuddin Chowdhury Manik spoke on the occasion.
A traffic jam was created in Shahbag during the rally. About three hundred leaders and activists were present at the demonstration.
