Demand punishment for anti-sculptors and those who desecrate the national flag

An organization called Children and Generation of Freedom Fighters has demanded that those who vandalized the sculptures of Bangabandhu and Bagha Jatin in Kushtia and those who distorted the national flag of Begum Rokeya University be punished. The organization’s leaders and workers say such activities amount to distorting history. They should receive exemplary punishment.

Children and the generation of freedom fighters gathered in front of the National Press Club in the capital at 11 a.m. on Monday.

In the human chain of one hour, they said that in addition to these incidents, the use of images of the Shaheed Minar on the Victory Day banner at Chittagong University and the commemoration of the Victory Day flowers at the Islamic University they have been insulted. Apart from this, leaders and activists of some affiliates of the Awami League have also been seen distorting banners and posters on Victory Day and Martyrs’ Day.

Ahidul Islam, the convener of the children and the generation of freedom fighters in the human chain, said that those who do not know the size and color of the national flag, the martyrs of 71 and the martyrs of the language movement, do not know what is the memorial and what is the Shaheed Minar, how they became teachers and students. These incidents have been made to question the liberation war, Bangabandhu, language movement.
